A well-drafted agreement records the terms clearly, protects your payment and gives you a remedy if the other side defaults. Contracts in Pakistan are governed by the Contract Act, 1872, must be stamped under the Stamp Act, 1899, and some, such as sale deeds for property, must be registered.

Frequently asked questions
Does a sale agreement transfer ownership of property?
No. A sale agreement creates rights between the parties; ownership passes on a registered sale deed or transfer through the authority.
Should a rent agreement be registered?
Leases above a certain period must be registered. Short rent agreements should still be in writing and properly stamped.
What makes an agreement enforceable?
Free consent, lawful object, consideration, competent parties, and proper stamping and execution.
